2/17 8:00 a.m. - Outage Update

At 8:00 a.m. Jackson EMC is experiencing 1,990 individual outages that are affecting 62,913 customers across our service area. This represents one of the worst ice storms in Jackson EMC’s history. We have downed limbs and trees, as well as downed power lines and a number of broken poles. Hardest hit is Hall County, where nearly 60% of Jackson EMC’s customers are without power.

Current outage details are available on our outage map at http://jemc.maps.sienatech.com/

Jackson EMC crews are being joined by 46 contractor crews and 21 crews assisting from Coweta-Fayette EMC, Newnan; Carroll EMC, Carrollton; Snapping Shoals EMC, Covington; Diverse Power, LaGrange; GreyStone Power, Douglasville; and Baldwin EMC, Foley, AL. The combined crews will be working throughout the day to clear outages as rapidly as the weather conditions and safety considerations allow.

At this time, our goal is to restore most Jackson EMC customers’ power within 24 hours, conditions permitting. Customers with special medical needs should make provisions until we can restore their power.

We will continue to provide updates throughout the day until the last outages are cleared.
