2/17 9:00 a.m. - Outage Update
At 9:00 a.m. Jackson EMC is experiencing 1,744 individual outages that are affecting 58,625 customers across our service area. This represents one of the worst ice storms in Jackson EMC’s history. We have downed limbs and trees, as well as downed power lines and a number of broken poles. Hardest hit is Hall County, where nearly 60% of Jackson EMC’s customers are without power.
Outage details are available on our outage map at http://jemc.maps.sienatech.com/
In addition to our own crews who are working, Jackson EMC has now called in a total of 81 outside crews, from contractors and neighboring utilities. These crews are working side by side with our own to remove damaged trees and limbs, and make outage repairs as quickly and safely as possible.
At this time, our goal is to restore most Jackson EMC customers’ power within 24 hours, conditions permitting. Customers with special medical needs should make provisions until we can restore their power.
Members of the public should take care while emergency repairs are underway. Avoid downed power lines, and keep in mind that downed trees and limbs may be entangled with live power lines.
We will continue to provide updates throughout the day until the last outages are cleared.
