5:00 p.m. Outage Update

Jackson EMC has restored power to 7,847 customers since our 8 a.m. report today. We currently have 21,895 customers still out of power. Our personnel, assisted by contractor crews and crews from other electric cooperatives, are working to clear these outages. We still have 50 broken power poles in Hall and Lumpkin counties to replace, along with 10 in Jackson and Banks counties. Today’s snow, increased winds and freezing temperatures have hampered restoration efforts.

While we have cleared more than 54,000 of the original 76,000 outages, we anticipate we will have more difficult outages scattered throughout our service area to clear tomorrow.

We will continue to provide updates throughout the day until the last outages are cleared.
