The Jackson EMC Bright Ideas grant program awarded a record $73,600 to 48 local teachers in 30 schools for their innovative classroom projects. The 2023 winners represented a variety of disciplines, including science, math, English, social studies, fine arts and physical education.  

“Each year we’re excited to recognize teachers who design interactive and creative projects for their students that couldn’t be funded otherwise,” said Karen Ewing, Jackson EMC’s community relations representative. 

Since the 2014 pilot project, Jackson EMC has awarded more than $550,000 in Bright Ideas grants across 11 school districts.  

Funded projects provided a unique, hands-on, student-led learning experience that create opportunities for improved critical thinking skills.
