ADD INGREDIENTS to a mixing bowl IN THE ORDER LISTED

1 cup sugar

1 egg

½ cup sweet or sour milk

½ cup shortening

1 teaspoon vanilla

½ cup cocoa

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon baking powder

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

½ cup boiling water

Instructions:

Put all ingredients in a mixing bowl in the order listed.

Do not stir until the water has been added.

Beat for 3 minutes.

Bake in a slow oven at 325 degrees.

Top with icing or enjoy as is.
