Do You Have a Fire Safety Plan?
A fire can move very fast through a residence. You could have less than two minutes to safely leave your home once the smoke alarm sounds.
That’s why the National Fire Prevention Association is advising families that “Every Second Counts: Plan Two Ways Out” during National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 8-14.
Everyone should have an escape plan in the event of a fire in their home. And, children should practice the plan with their families in advance.
The National Fire Prevention Association offers an escape plan in English and Spanish that families can use to draft their plan showing two ways to leave their home in the event of a fire.
Teachers can also use a brief lesson plan and coloring sheet to educate students about fire safety planning with their families.
These resources, and others, for National Fire Prevention Week are available on the National Fire Protection Association’s website.
