Grilled Pork Chops

Now that the weather is nice and grills have been brought out of the garage, why not look for alternatives to hamburgers? Grilled pork chops are quick and adapt well to a variety of marinades. This one uses Granny Smith apples for extra flavor.

  • 4 pork chops, boneless or bone-in, about1 1/4 inch thick
  • 1 Granny Smith apple, cored and cut into 8 wedges
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper

Place chops in a large self-sealing plastic bag; combine remaining ingredients in a small bowl and pour over chops. Seal bag and refrigerate for 4 to 24 hours. Remove chops from marinade (discarding marinade). Preheat grill to medium. Grill over medium-hot coals for a total of 12 to 15 minutes, turning to brown evenly. Serve chops immediately.
