Helping Manage a Local Resource

Benny Bagwell, Gainesville District E&O Coordinator with Governor Nathan Deal, as Bagwell is appointed to the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority
Gainesville District E&O Coordinator Benny Bagwell, area native with 41 years Jackson EMC experience, has been appointed to serve on the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority (LLIDA) by Governor Nathan Deal.
LLIDA provides administrative oversight to the private commercial development of the Lake Lanier Islands. Its primary responsibility is to ensure the continued commercial viability of the area and to promote economic growth through proper management and protection of natural resources. LLIDA works with Lake Lanier Islands Management, LLC, as well as partnerships with US Army Corps of Engineers, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Lake Lanier Convention & Visitors Bureau and other stakeholder groups.
“While with Jackson EMC, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many organizations through the years, but this is special; you don’t get chances like this every day,” says Bagwell. “Utilities are often a part of planning and growth, but this appointment has given me a renewed spark of excitement. Some of the things I cherish most are taken into consideration with LLIDA - the necessity, growth and development of the region, as we plan for the year and the future.”
