Jackson EMC Employees Volunteer for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Jackson EMC employees volunteered in two elementary schools for Jackson County’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. The inaugural Jackson County Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service brought together volunteers in the community for various projects at local schools.

At Gum Springs Elementary School, Bella Villalobos and Hannah Ellis, customer service representatives from Jackson EMC’s Gainesville office, painted inspirational quotes on restroom walls.

Casey Abernathy, Brooke Blackmon, Taylor Compton, Dekotah Mathis and Kerri Testement, all members of Jackson EMC’s communication department, painted encouraging words, quotes and pictures on restroom walls at North Jackson Elementary School.

Two Jackson EMC employees braved below-freezing temperatures on January 20 to work in North Jackson Elementary School’s garden. Hillary Corey and Karen Ewing repaired raised garden beds, pulled weeds, planted seeds, and spread mulch in the school’s FoodCorps Garden, an AmeriCorps project.
