POSTED: December 9, 2017, at 9 a.m.:

(JEFFERSON, GA. Dec. 9, 2017) Winter weather is causing some outages for Jackson EMC members. At 9 a.m., 490 members remain without power in Hall (340) and Lumpkin (148) and Gwinnett (2) counties. Linemen worked through the night to restore outages for members. Since the start of the storm, linemen have worked to restore 74 outages affecting 4,971 members.

Jackson EMC is sending linemen to assist with restoration efforts in other parts of the state. We are sending 13 linemen to Cobb EMC and 9 linemen to Carroll EMC. These areas are some of the hardest hit in Georgia because of the winter storm. Both EMCs report extensive outages for their members.

As fellow cooperatives, when asked, we provide assistance during major outage events. These crews will work side-by-side with other linemen to remove damaged trees and limbs, and make outage repairs as quickly as safety practices and conditions allow.

We are continuing to monitor the situation and respond as needed. For real-time outage information, look at the outage map available here: www.jacksonemc.com/storm
